Where should I go next?…

Fête des Jonquilles

Just a week after the “Carnaval de Nantes”, there was another festival in Saint Etienne de Montluc, a commune located half an hour from Nantes.

The village celebrates the blooming of the flower “Narcissus jonquilla”丁香水仙/黃水仙 (jonquille in French, that’s where the name of the festival comes from) for one Sunday in April since 1965. So the festival already has 50 years of history.

For a village this small in size, I was surprised the number of visitors that showed up. It wasn’t a big event, with less than 10 floats and lasted only half an hour.

But the floats were very beautifully decorated with the yellow flowers. They were so brilliant that some of them could turn or smoke would come out, not to mention the size of the floats and the flowers that needed to build them.

The music and the dance weren’t much but the participants were quite entertaining in the bizarre costumes.

Bon voyage à tous 🙂
